Darlene has worked with adolescents, parents, school staff, first responders and families who are ready to navigate through emotional struggles of life to guide them from surviving to thriving.
Education and Experience
Darlene holds a M.Ed. from the University of Central Oklahoma in counseling, receiving her LPC and NCC in 1990. She has worked for Moore Public Schools and Birdville ISD as a crisis intervention counselor while in a part time private practice in both Oklahoma and Texas.
She believes talk therapy is one of the best ways to help a person gain a better understanding of their emotions, identify roadblocks and obstacles to optimal mental health, overcome anxiety, cope with stress, process previous traumatic experiences and to pinpoint triggers. She uses a variety of counseling modalities including a biopsychosocial model and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, while incorporating elements of Solution-focused and person-centered therapy. For those that are struggling with past trauma she uses CPT to reduce symptoms and improve daily life. Her goal is to help clients safely and confidently embrace vulnerability which leads to healing in an empathetic, collaborative, therapeutic relationship.
